Last week, I flew to Switzerland to attend SIHH with Jaeger-LeCoultre and it was a short but eye-opening experience. I learnt so much about the craftsmanship of watchmaking and was amongst other likeminded individuals who equally inspired me about this impeccable craft. This SIHH, Jaeger-LeCoultre extended their mastery of Métiers Rares (Rare Crafts) to the men’s range of watches as well, although the focus was on the women’s Rendes-Vous collection. The newest Rendes-Vous shows the techniques of watchmaking competence at its finest, both in technique and art – from the detailed decoration of its activity to the elegant accessory of its dial, in the fragile environment of its diamonds and sapphires towards the presentation of its timekeeping characteristics. The latest Rendez-Vous collection for SIHH 2017 is the result of the combined talents of watchmakers and craftspeople of the Vallée de Joux Manufacture. Together, both ranges from this collection of watches for SIHH 2017 is made for lovers.
Another highlight from SIHH was being able to attend a Q&A session with Marc Newson. I’ve followed the man’s work for years now and to be able to have met him in the flesh and listen to his views on the rarity of the meticulous craft that is watchmaking was priceless. It was such an inspiring time spent at SIHH and Claire from Jaeger-LeCoultre was such great and lovely company to be with during the event – thank you for taking such good care of me!
