Hi everyone ! Hope you all are enjoying the sunny summer days. I know….it’s been almost 2 months since I visited Geneva. I have to confess that one of my skills beside making myself levitating is to loose and break stuff. Last month I have accidentally dropped my external hard-drive , where I used to keep all my work and important document while I am travelling , and of course it stopped working . The best part of the story is that I never did any back-up of the drive so I have lost all my 2 years’ work including the photos and videos I did in Geneva which I was really eager to show to all of you. Luckily I still got some shots taken with my Iphone thus I thought to share them with you since after that trip Geneva has become one of my favourite cities. Better late than never haha.

Back to the trip, few weeks ago me and Smaranda have packed our bags and decided to visit Geneva only for 2 days. At arrivals a driver was waiting to take us to the Hotel Rotary Geneva – MGallery Collection. When we got there, nice open glass doors were awaiting us to check in.  After that we went to lunch at the Tartares & co and had  the best St Jacques tartar I’ve ever had. With Loan’s guidance we visited Geneva’s center. We walked around the neat and well preserved streets of the old town to St. Pierre Cathedral where we climbed to the top for an impressive 180 view of the city. Not to mention the cathedral is a beauty in itself. Climbing down we found our way to the Parc des Bastions, which was full of kids and grandparents having a blast playing different  games. We also passed by Universite de Geneve which has one side surrounded by the park, seems like a nice place to study at. Tired from all the walking and with our sugar levels running low we stopped for a sweet bite and tea before going to dinner.

Later that day we went to Burger Foundation to try one of their famous burgers and fries, and I’ve got to tell you that the hype is real and there is a reason for it. Also, the chick serving us just got into the Royal College of Art, how cool is that?! But besides the great food and the amazing staff that’s not all that’s cool about this place. They also have a small oyster bar for the connesours. Before our burgers, we got taken out back to this stylish intimate venue, where the owner presented us with a platou of different oysters while explaining about their origins and particularities. My mouth still waters at the thought of it. Back in our hotel room after a long and exciting day, we dozed easily to sleep

On our second day in Geneva we went to the Carouge Marche it drizzled a tiny bit, but the sun came out soon after. The market is full of happy faces and natural products. Perfect combination to make up the perfect place. As it was getting late we had lunch in one of the pretty cafes surrounding the market, and also treated our sweet tooth to a nice watermelon gelato. Perfect summers day. Beautiful day, beautiful food, beautiful people.

We also spent our last day doing a bit of site seeing, but also we couldn’t deny ourselves a bit of culture. So we went to the Musee D’ethnographie de Geneve where we saw a lot of early artefacts belonging to different cultures and continents. Also, the temporary exhibition was presenting Amazonian tribe life. A must see, if you’re in Geneva. We also went to the museum of contemporary art, it has a really interesting and quirky collection.

After the museums we got on a site seeing cruise around the lake. A sailing competition was taking place really close to our route. One thing that I liked a lot was that the water is an absolute gorgeous clear blue, it’s incredible, I don’t think I’ve seen such a colour in any of the other capitals I’ve visited so far. Apparently you can go swimming in it during summer. Who needs a sea side when you have that? Plus, these swans seem friendlier than London ones 😉

Around 8pm we had a reservation at the Bottle Brothers where we were chose the Carte Blanche, which is basically a surprise seven course meal. I can’t tell you what we had, that would ruin the surprise, but what I can say is that the whole experience was filling and fulfilling. The night ended with some nice cocktails. The place was crowed with people waiting for a table. I felt really lucky to manage to experience this in the best possible way.
